A quiet week for both the equity and debt capital markets

Equity Capital Markets

A total of $1.3 billion has been raised through 19 deals in the equity capital markets in Asia (ex Japan) so far this week, down from the $2.4 billion raised in the same period last week and brings YTD volume to $214.6 billion, the highest YTD total since 2010 ($245.4bn) and up 15% year-on-year.

The largest deal of the week is a $391 million follow-on for PT Aneka Tambang through bookrunners CIMB Group, Credit Suisse, PT Bahan Securties, PT (Persero) Danareksa and PT Bank Mandiri (Persero).

The deal is the third biggest ECM deal in Indonesia so far this year and also the fourth largest Mining ECM transaction in Asia (ex Japan) so far this year.

Indonesia issuers have a raised a total of $3.7 billion in the equity capital markets so far this year, up 27% year-on-year. In contrast, overall Southeast Asia ECM volume is down 31% during the same period to $14.6 billion in 2015 YTD.

CITIC Securities continues to lead the league table ranking with $15.3 billion. UBS and Goldman Sachs follow with $14.0 billion and $13.4 billion, respectively.

Debt Capital Markets

Four issuers have tapped the Asia (ex Japan) G3 capital markets for a total of $3.8 billion so far this week, compared to $5.1 billion via 10 deals in the same period last week.

Export-Import Bank of Korea’s $1.8 billion dual tranche trade was the biggest deal of the week and the bookrunners on the deal are BNP Paribas, ANZ, Barclays, SG CIB, Citi and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

South Korea G3 bond volume has reached $19.0 billion so far this year, the lowest YTD total since 2008 ($11.5 billion) and down 30% year-on-year.

The top three spots in the league table remain unchanged with HSBC taking $17.7 billion in 2015 YTD and Citi and JPMorgan follow with $15.3 billion and $11.8 billion, respectively.
