South Korean IPOs driving AeJ Equity Capital Markets this YTD

Asia (ex Japan) issuers have raised a total of $5.7 billion through 33 deals this week, down 26% from the $7.7 billion raised last week via 47 deals.

The largest deal of the week was the IPO by ING Life Insurance Korea Ltd for $975 million via bookrunners Samsung Securities Co Ltd, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Mirae Asset Daewoo, and KB Financial Group Inc.

This deal is the second largest IPO in Asia (ex Japan) so far this year, after another South Korean IPO, the week prior, by Netmarble Games Corp for $2.3 billion.

China International Capital Corp leads the ECM league table with $6.6 billion in 2017 YTD. CITIC Securities and China Securities follow with $6.2 billion and $4.5 billion, respectively.

Debt Capital Markets

Nine Asian (ex Japan) issuers have tapped the G3 debt capital markets this week for a total of $13.3 billion, almost double the $7.8 billion issued last week via 12 deals.

The largest deal of the week is a $5 billion USD-denominated investment grade corporate bond by State Grid Corp of China, via a consortium of 14 bookrunners.

AeJ G3 bond issuance currently sits at $135 billion YTD, which is up 96% on the same period last year and is a record YTD.

HSBC leads the G3 DCM league table in 2017 YTD with $10.8 billion. This is followed by Citi and Standard Chartered Bank with $9.1 billion and $7.3 billion respectively.
