Bindra to head GE Commercial Finance in India

Vicky Bindra quits Citi after 12 years to become CEO at GE Commercial Finance.
GE Commercial Finance in India has poached Vicky Bindra from Citi as president and CEO.

Bindra succeeds Tejpreet Chopra who was promoted as president and CEO of GE India in June. Chopra replaced Scott Bayman. BaymanÆs name is inextricably linked with GE in India û having headed GE for 14 years starting in 1993 and growing the business from about $1 million dollars to around $3 billion currently.

Bindra was with Citi for 12 years and was most recently executive vice president for the small business and customer franchise, which is part of the international global consumer group. Other positions he has held at Citi in the past include director, retail distribution group and head of customer franchise management for the international business. Before he joined Citi, Bindra was a partner in the consulting firm Bain & Company.

"Vicky's wealth of experience and proven leadership will allow us to accelerate the growth of our business in this critical market," says John Flannery, president and CEO of GE Commercial Finance Asia, in a written statement.

A GE India spokesperson said Bindra is currently in a transition period and would be taking up his new assignment shortly.

Vicky has a bachelors degree in finance and accounting from St Xaviers College and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is also a qualified chartered accountant.

GE Commercial Finance has more than $246 billion in assets and provides loans, operating leases, financing programmes and innovative structured capital to its customers. It is headquartered in Connecticut and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the General Electric Company (GE).
