Sri Lanka issues the largest bond on record.

Asia (ex Japan) ECM volume stands at $6.7bn via 30 deals so far this week (four IPOs, 22 follow-ons, and four convertibles), compared to the $1.4bn via 19 deals completed in the previous week.

On April 13, South Korean issuer Samsung Heavy Industries completed a $1.3bn follow-on via a Korea Investments & Securities, Mirae Asset Daewoo, and NH Investments & Securities in what is the largest Asia (ex Japan) ECM transaction this week.

Asia (ex Japan) Transportation ECM volume stands at $5.6bn in 2018 YTD, up 14% from 2017 YTD. China accounts for 48% of the volume with $2.7bn via nine deals, followed by South Korea at 47% with $2.6bn via five deals and Taiwan at 4% with $221m via three deals.

Citi leads the ECM league table with $7.7bn this YTD, Goldman Sachs follows with $6.9bn, and Morgan Stanley is in the third place with $6.4bn.

Asian (ex-Japan) G3 DCM deals stands at $14.2bn so far this week, a significant increase from the $935m raised last week.

After a long absence since last May, Sri Lanka returned to the market with $2.5bn dual-tranche issue this week. This marked the largest transaction priced this week and the largest bond issued by Sri Lanka on record. However, both tranche only attracted approximately 200 accounts, compare to 500 accounts attracted for the last year.

Finance issuer have issued $48.0bn via 141 deals this year-to-date in Asia ex Japan international DCM market. Volume went down 28% from $66.5bn from last year. However, activities went up 24% from 114 deals and reached the record high.

HSBC leads Asia (ex-Japan) G3 DCM league table in 2018 YTD with $7.8bn, Citi follows it with $5.5bn, and Bank of China is the third with $5.1bn.
