Both equity capital markets and debt capital markets experience a lull this week

Equity Capital Markets
Asian issuers have raised $2.6 billion in the equity capital markets this week through 21 deals, the lowest weekly volume since the week of April 6 ($2.3 billion) and the lowest weekly activity since the week of February 16 (nine deals). Volume is also down from the $6.1 billion raised last week through 32 deals.

The largest deal of the week is Haitong Securities’ $817 million accelerated offering* through sole bookrunner UBS and brings Asia ex Japan accelerated offerings to $31.4 billion in 2015 YTD, compared to $17.5 billion raised in the same period last year.

UBS leads the league table ranking with $12.6 billion in 2015 YTD, followed closely by Goldman Sachs with $12.57 billion while CITIC Securities rounds off the top three with $12.4 billion.

Debt Capital Markets
Two issuers have tapped the G3 debt capital markets this week for $764 million, nearly half the $1.4 billion raised in the same period last week and the lowest weekly issuance since the week of February 16th ($411 million).

The largest deal of the week is a $667 million bond for China Overseas Land International (Cayman) Ltd through bookrunners JP Morgan, UBS, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, ICBC, HSBC, CCB, DBS and Agricultural Bank of China.

Real estate issuers in the region have tapped the G3 bond markets for $10.4 billion so far this year, down 44% on the record $18.5 billion raised in the same period last year. Chinese issuers account for the bulk of Real Estate G3 bonds with $8.4 billion, down from the $14.5 billion raised in 2014 YTD.

HSBC continues to top the league table rankings with $14.0 billion in 2015 YTD while Citi and JPMorgan follow with $11.9 billion and $8.8 billion, respectively.
