ABN AMRO adds three in financial institutions

ABN AMRO has appointed three senior Asian-based bankers to the coverage team for financial institution clients.

Curtis Chen, based in Hong Kong, has been named global head of non-bank financial institutions for developing markets. Chen will lead a team of relationship bankers dedicated to insurance companies, finance companies and other non-bank financial institutions in Asia, Australasia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Chen joined ABN AMRO in April 2000 from Aetna, where he headed the Asian mergers and acquisition and business development team. Prior to that, he spent seven years at the consulting firm Booz, Allen and Hamilton and earned his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Scott F. Engle has joined the bank in Hong Kong as a managing director overseeing Asian non-bank financial institutions coverage. Engle will report to Chen and will have responsibility for those clients in Asia. Engle joins from Swiss Re where he was managing director for insurance sector client development. He has 20 years of banking and corporate finance experience and worked previously for Salomon Smith Barney, Citigroup and Bank of America.

Samuel Zavatti, global head of financial institutions says, "We believe that insurers and asset managers in developing economies have a unique set of issues and that specialised coverage will result in more thoughtful solutions."

Padmanabha Mishra, based in Singapore, has also been appointed as regional head of banks and public sector clients. Mishra's new role is to co-ordinate ABN AMRO's relationships with key bank and government clients in the Asia Pacific region, including Japan and China. He joined ABN AMRO in April 2001 and has 17 years of banking experience, most of it at Bank of America.
