The equity capital markets raise $108 million and Posco lifts the debt capital markets with a $700 million deal.

Equity Capital Markets

The equity capital markets raised $108 million via 10 issues this week, bringing year-to-date volume to $12.8 billion from 125 deals. UBS heads the league table ranking with $2.6 billion, followed by Bank of America-Merrill Lynch on $2.2 billion and Morgan Stanley on $2.1 billion.

Bank of America-Merrill Lynch moved up a notch to second place in the league table on the back of CapitaLand's $1.2 billion follow-on rights offering that was completed late last week. DBS and J.P. Morgan also ran the books, with the US investment house moving up to fifth place from seventh and the Singapore bank climbing up a rung to sixth place.

Shinhan Financial's $891 million follow-on rights issue, which was led by BNP Paribas, J.P. Morgan and UBS, was also priced late last week. BNP Paribas moved into the top 10 to sit in ninth place as a result.

Deals scheduled to price next week include CapitaMall Trust's $824 million rights offer, which is led by DBS and J.P. Morgan.


Debt Capital Markets

Posco's $700 million trade that priced Friday was the sole deal of the week and led by Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, Citi, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and HSBC. Volume for the year so far has reached $9.4 billion from seven deals, up 92% from $4.9 billion and 19 trades in the same period 2008.

Barclays Capital and UBS continue to top the rankings with $1.49 billion apiece, while HSBC follows close behind in third place on $1.47 billion.
