S&P elevates Thompson

Promoted to the role of chief credit officer and head of research and training for Asia-Pacific.

Standard & Poor's has promoted Ian Thompson up the regional ranks, anointing the company veteran as its new chief credit officer and head of research and training for Asia-Pacific.

In a newly created position, Thompson assumes responsibility for driving S&P's integrity, rigour, market responsiveness, and transparency of its ratings analytics. This new role will also allow Thompson to lead research and analytic training throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

According to S&P, Thompson's elevation to this post will help it continue to meet goals of developing criteria and ratings systems that respond to local market and customer needs.

Thompson takes on the role from his most recent position of corporate and government services in Australia and New Zealand. He first joined the S&P in 1988 under Australian Ratings, which it acquired in 1990.
