Merrill hires regional petrochemical research head

Kenneth Whee has been appointed senior director and Asia-Pacific head of petrochemicals and refining equity research at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, the bank said on Friday. Based in Hong Kong, he will work alongside Thomas Wong as co-head of the bank's energy equity research team for the region.
 
Starting on August 17, Whee will coordinate regional research in the petrochemical and refining chains, which will require working with the bank's global commodities research team.
 
Before joining Merrill, Whee was head of Asia chemicals research at Goldman Sachs in Seoul between 2006 and 2009. Before that, he held positions at Morgan Stanley and SG Securities, covering the chemical industry.  
 
Whee has a bachelor degree in business administration from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul.
