The equity capital markets raised $1.1 billion from 14 issues last week, bringing total volume for the year so far to over $11 billion. Goldman Sachs continues to head the league table rankings with $2 billion from seven deals, followed by Nomura and Barclays Capital - two banks, which do not normally feature in the top 10 let alone the top five.

A $440 million convertible for IndiaƆs Ranbaxy Laboratories was the largest issue of the week. Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley and UBS were the bookrunners.

A $450 million Hong Kong IPO for Chinese paper company Nine Dragons will be launched today by bookrunners BNP Paribas Peregine and Merrill Lynch.
