Deutsche Bank poaches Villard Zhou from JPMorgan

As managing director of the China business development team, Zhou will focus on growing the investment banking business on the Mainland.
Deutsche Bank has hired Villard Zhou as managing director to lead the China business development team within its global banking division. Zhou, who was most recently a managing director in JPMorganÆs China investment banking team, assumes the newly created position today.

Based in Hong Kong, Zhou will help the German bank grow its ChinaÆs investment banking business further and build up relationships with local clients. She will report to Charles Wang, managing director and head of China investment banking.

ôWe see tremendous potential in investment banking in China as more corporates with strong balance sheets continue to actively seek growth opportunities in the region," says Wang. ôVillardÆs intimate knowledge of the Chinese investment banking business and well-established relationships will benefit our clients and strengthen our already strong presence in this important market.ö

Zhou comes equipped with 10 years of investment banking experience in China. At JPMorgan she was responsible for managing investment banking deals for Chinese clients.

The investment banking industry in China has been very robust in recent years, given an unfading interest in this market by global investors and increasing financial activities undertaken by fast-growing domestic companies. The addition of this new position to Deutsche BankÆs investment banking team shows the bank is committing extra resources and efforts to fuel its continuous growth in China.
