Royal Bank of Scotland adds to Tokyo team

The bank appoints Kengo Okamoto as head of legal.
The Royal Bank of Scotland has appointed Kengo Okamoto as head of legal in its Tokyo branch and its RBS Securities Japan office.

Okamoto joins from JPMorgan Securities Japan where he was executive director and assistant general counsel.

"Okamoto is a highly respected and talented legal professional who brings a wealth of experience to RBS," says Michael Loughney, head of group legal, RBS Global Banking and Markets, Asia-Pacific.

Prior to JPMorgan, he worked with Credit Lyonnais Securities (Japan) and Swiss Bank Corp, Tokyo. Okamoto graduated from Keio University and has an LLM (Master of Laws) from American University in Washington DC. He is a New York licensed lawyer - the New York bar exam (along with California's) is one of the most difficult ones to pass in the US.

"With the addition of Okamoto, RBS continues to attract outstanding professionals to our growing Tokyo franchise," comments John Mullins, chief executive, RBS Global Banking and Markets, Japan.
