UBS names new Asia ECM syndicate head

Swiss bank appoints Hannah Malter as head of equity capital markets syndicate in Asia.

UBS has appointed Hannah Malter as its head of equity capital markets syndicate in Asia, the Swiss bank said in a memo seen by FinanceAsia.

Malter is replacing Andrea Casati, who will become vice-chairman of Asia-Pacific ECM focusing on senior coverage of priority clients across all industries. Casati was appointed ECM syndicate head in March last year following the departure of Damien Brosnan.

Malter is returning to UBS’ Asian equity syndicate desk after moving to New York as a director of the Americas syndicate team in 2013. She started with UBS’ Australia ECM team in 2007 before moving on to Hong Kong as part of the Asia ex-Japan ECM team.

In her new role, Malter will report to Gaetano Bassolino, UBS’ head of Asia-Pacific global capital markets.

“Hannah has extensive experience in ECM syndicate and brings with her extensive global connectivity and investor knowledge,” Bassolino said in the memo. “I am confident that under her leadership we can further build on the strong momentum in ECM and continue to diversify our business.”
