Jha joins the bank from Credit Suisse, where he was a director and senior regional economist, covering Southeast Asia and India. Based in Singapore, he will play the role of senior regional economist and lead the bankÆs macro-economic research on the Indian sub-continent and Indonesia. He will report to Peter Redward, BarclaysÆ head of emerging Asia rates research.

"In addition to his country coverage responsibilities, we are looking for Sailesh to help enhance our non-Japan Asia thematic product.ö
Before his stint at Credit Suisse, Jha spent more than 10 years working with DBS Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank specialising in Asia ex-Japan strategy and economic research both on the fixed-income and equity side.
Earlier this month, Barclays expanded its Asian economics research team by adding Wai Ho Leong as associate director and regional economist, and Yan Zheng as economist. Leong joined the firm from Singapore's Ministry of Trade & Industry, where he was a senior economist in the economics and strategy division. He is based in Singapore and covers Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. His team-mate Zheng is based in Hong Kong and is responsible for the bank's China coverage. Both Leong and Zheng report to Redward.
