HSBC boosts Japan cash management team

HSBC has made seven new cash management appointments in what amounts to a major commitment to the Japanese market.
HSBC is strengthening its global payments and cash management business in Japan with seven new appointments.

ôThis expansion will enable HSBC to offer its clients an enhanced range of local and global cash management solutions and services through its internet banking platform, HSBCnet,ö the bank said in a statement.

Navin Gupta, head of global payments and cash management, HSBC in Japan, says that the appointments reflect the bankÆs commitment to the Japanese market. He adds that HSBC would be providing, ôtailored cash management solutions through a comprehensive integrated product offering", and would be offering several new services, particularly in the area of liquidity management.

The seven new appointments are:

Eiji Oyama û senior vice president, head of product management. Oyama served for over 20 years at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, with 10 years in transaction banking. Most recently, he was the head of the planning group for SMBC's overseas cash management products.

Masako Konno - vice president, client integration. Konno has had extensive experience with IBM Japan, Citibank and HP. She will lead HSBCÆs ERP integration efforts for global payments and cash management products and services.

Mariko Kusano - vice president, client integration. Kusano returns to HSBC from Deutsche Bank, where she was head of customer service for corporate and financial institutions clients. Kusano worked with HSBC in Japan for 10 years in global payments and cash management and banking operations.

Kiyono Hasaka - vice president, sales. She joins from Bank of America global treasury services, where she served as assistant vice president, responsible for providing treasury management and trade finance solutions for large multinational corporations and government agencies in the Asia-Pacific region.

Izumi Owaki - product manager, payments and channel management. For the last 16 years, Owaki worked for SMBC in relationship management and trade operations, developing foreign exchange and cash management products for corporate clients.

Neoh Chong - product manager, liquidity management. Chong graduated from Hitotsubashi University with a CFA level I. He has eight years of work experience as a credit officer, investment analyst and portfolio manager in Malaysia.

Amit Kanaskar - product manager, receivables management. Kanaskar joins HSBC from Manulife Japan, where he was a business analyst, managing requirements and process improvements for new products.
