The chairman of Taiwan's stock exchange says work has started on consolidating the country's exchanges in preparation for an IPO.

The Taiwan stock exchange (TSEC) is making plans for an initial public offering. Wu Rong-I, who took over the chairmanship of the exchange two months ago, told FinanceAsia that work had started on consolidating the TSEC, The Gre Tai Securities Market (otherwise known as the OTC market), The Taiwan Depositary and Clearing Corporation, and the Taiwan Futures Exchange, into one corporate entity.
