Nomura hires ex-Goldman Sachs banker

DK Shin will head the bankÆs global markets business for Korea, based in Hong Kong.
Nomura has appointed DK Shin as head of global markets for Korea with a mandate to expand its business in the country. Shin previously worked at Goldman Sachs where he was a managing director and head of the Korea financing group.

The position at Nomura is a new one, created for Shin by the Japanese bank. ôTo further develop Nomura's Asian franchise, we are expediting cross product/business solutions for our clients. DK will play a leading role to bind all the functions together and accelerate development in Korea. We are certain that he will make a significant contribution to our business expansion in the region,ö says Yuji Nakata, the firmÆs head of Asia region products and chief operation officer of Nomura Asia.

Shin will continue to be based in Hong Kong. He will report jointly to Kenji Tsuge, the firmÆs head of fixed-income in Asia-Pacific, and to Tomoyuki Teraguchi, head of the Asia equity division.

Apart from working with Goldman Sachs, ShinÆs 24-year working career in Hong Kong includes a tenure at Deutsche Bank as managing director and head of capital markets for Korea, as well as a stint at Bankers Trust.
