Reuters Asia managing director joins HSBC

Alex Hungate will oversee the bankÆs personal financial services and marketing worldwide.
HSBC has appointed Alex Hungate as global head of personal financial services and marketing. Hungate joins from Reuters where he was managing director in Asia.

As a managing director of the group, Hungate will also be a member of the global group management board.

Assuming his new role in September, Hungate will oversee a business with 120 million customers worldwide and his chief task will be connecting the bankÆs operations around the world. Apart from products, services and technologies selection and implementation, he will be in charge of the creation of new services for the bank. He will also make sure that all advertising, sponsorship and customer marketing around the world complies with the bankÆs brand values.

Regional leaders of personal finance and the principal heads of marketing will report to Hungate functionally, in addition to geographic reporting to local chief executives. Based in London, Hungate will report to Michael Geoghegan, HSBCÆs group chief executive.

At Reuters, Hungate spent some time as chief marketing officer and adopted customer satisfaction measurement techniques to improve services and increase customer loyalty for the company.
