Nomura hires new oil and gas analyst

Nomura poaches Rachel Tsang to head oil and gas research.
Nomura has hired Rachel Tsang as head of oil and gas research. Tsang will be based at Nomura's Asia headquarters in Hong Kong and will initiate coverage on the Chinese oil majors.

Tsang will report to Stewart Callaghan, head of Nomura's Asia research division. Callaghan says: "With Rachel's appointment, we now have a very strong Asia energy complex team. I am confident that we will progressively roll out more coverage and put out some cross sector thematic research to meet our clients' needs."

Tsang has more than 12 years experience in research. She was earlier with Daiwa Securities where she primarily covered the oil and gas sector. Tsang is a chartered financial analyst with a bachelor of arts degree in quantitative analysis from City University of Hong Kong and an MBA in finance from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.

Nomura has been progressively strengthening its research team through lateral hires. In November, Nomura hired Andrew Haskins as head of regional telecoms research from HSBC where he had spent 15 years.
