Moody's gets a new group managing director for Asia

Moody's Investors Service shuffles the staff with new senior management appointments.
Moody's Corporation announced this week that Jennifer Elliott has been named group managing director for Moody's Investors Service Asia, succeeding Thomas Keller who has been appointed group managing director, global project finance and structured finance business development.

Andrew Kriegler, formerly Moody's managing director and country manager for Canada, succeeds Elliott as chief human resources officer for the corporation. Donald Carter has been named managing director and has been appointed country manager for Canada.

In her new role, Elliott is responsible for Moody's Investors Service's operations in the Asia-Pacific region, including its structured finance business in Asia and Japan (excluding derivatives) and providing regional oversight and coordination of Moody's company ratings and research businesses. Elliott also will lead the firm's business development and geographic expansion initiatives in the region.

Keller will head the Moody's Investors Service global project finance group with responsibility for ratings of all project and dedicated infrastructure financings around the world. He will also assume responsibility for the global structured finance business development group.

Kriegler will be responsible for the global human resources activities of Moody's Corporation, including recruiting, employee relations, compensation and benefits, training, organisational development and HR information systems.

Carter will oversee Moody's Investors Service's Canadian operations with responsibility for directing and coordinating the company's ratings and research businesses in the country.

Elliott joined the Moody's Investors Service Sydney office in 1993 as an analyst in the structured finance group. In 1996, she transferred to Moody's London office, where she was a vice president - senior credit officer. She became head of Moody's Australia in 1999 and was named vice president and chief human resources officer for Moody's Corporation in February 2005. Prior to joining Moody's, Elliott worked as a banking and finance lawyer in Sydney.

Keller joined Moody's Investors Service in 1992 and has held positions in leveraged finance and investment grade corporate finance. He relocated to Japan in 1997 where he was representative director of Moody's Japan. In 2001, he was named group managing director for Japan and Asia Pacific, with overall responsibility for the ratings and research business in Japan and Asia.

Kriegler joined Moody's Investors Service in September 2000 as country manager for Canada. Prior to joining Moody's, Kriegler held investment banking positions with BMO Nesbitt Burns and CIBC World Markets and was a treasury executive at Canada Trust.

Carter joined Moody's Investors Service in 2001 as a vice president - senior analyst in the telecom/media sector. He was promoted to senior credit officer in 2003 and senior vice president in 2005. Prior to Moody's, Carter held senior positions in Canada at Bank of America, Bank of Montreal and Citibank.
