Republic of China and Mongolia price USD-denominated bonds

Asia (ex-Japan) ECM volume stands at $4.9bn via 29 deals this week, halved from the $9.9bn via 44 deals completed last week.

Notable deal that is expected to price this week is Crystal International Group's $527m IPO via three bookrunners which is the largest Hong Kong IPO this YTD.

Asia (ex-Japan) Convertible volume has reached $16.1bn via 74 deals in 2017 YTD, down from the $18.2bn raised in 2016 YTD. The highest YTD volume prior was 2011 ($19.2bn).

CITIC Securities leads the ECM league table with $11.6bn in 2017 YTD, followed by China Securities Co Ltd by $9.3bn and Goldman Sachs is third with $9.12bn.

Asia (ex-Japan) G3 issuance volume stands at $8.9bn via 11 deals this week, up 31% from the $6.8bn via 15 deals raised last week.

On October 26th, Republic of China priced a $2.0bn USD-denominated bond via a consortium of 10 bookrunners. This is the largest deal priced in the Asia (ex-Japan) international market this week, also the first USD-denominated bond priced this year since 2004 ($500m). The bond received over $10bn order book for both tranche and able to price at 15bps and 25bps over the benchmark for the 5-year and 10-year tranche respectively.

Notably, Mongolia priced a $800m USD-denominated bond on October 25th via bookrunners Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, and JP Morgan. Proceed of the deal is to fund its tender offer to repay existing debt. This is also the second time the issuer tapped the international market this year.

HSBC leads the G3 DCM league table in 2017 YTD with $23.8bn, followed by Citi with $19.9bn and Standard Chartered Bank with $14.9bn.
