UBS has named Andrew Williamson head of client coverage for the Asia-Pacific region, a post formerly held by Matthew Rule, who became head of investment products and services Asia Pacific in April.
Williamson, whose appointment takes effect on July 2, will report to Chi-Won Yoon, UBS president for Asia Pacific, according to an internal memo seen by FinanceAsia on Monday.
Rule and Williamson each have three decades of banking experience. Both are based in Hong Kong.
Rule is reporting to Mike Stewart, global head of IPS, and Kathryn Shih, head of wealth management Asia Pacific.
Williamson will work with the region's senior management, country heads, and business divisions to “enhance the promotion of cross-divisional collaboration and to ensure its deployment in the best interests of clients,” Yoon said in the UBS memo.
Williamson joined UBS in 2004 after 18 years in various wealth management roles at Lloyds Bank, Berry Asset Management, and Coutts in London, according to the memo.
Since relocating to the Hong Kong in 2009, Williamson has held several senior regional roles, including wealth management head of investment products, and most recently as wealth management head of equities and capital markets.Rule joined UBS in 1992, and has worked in Europe, the US, Singapore and Hong Kong.
