Deutsche Bank has announced the successful launch of its new global file transfer solution, db-direct connect to the market. The new host-to-host (H2H) global file transfer solution is targeted at corporates and financials that manage high volumes of payment transactions, while also catering to clients with centralised treasury systems and shared service centres.
Under the db-direct connect solution, clients can bi-directionally transfer data from a customer's host system to Deutsche’s host system, while also reaping the benefits of end-to-end automated payables and receivables processing, including automated reconciliation. The new H2H solution is also unique in the sense that it offers complete integration capabilities with the firm’s web-based electronic banking platform, db-direct internet.
“db-direct connect effectively offers a comprehensive H2H global solution that provides customers with two alternative transfer routes for their payment files to Deutsche Bank,” says Niranjan Perera, global head of H2H & integration services, global transaction banking (GTB) - cash management. “The first is simply from their host system directly to Deutsche Bank’s back-end processing engines, while the second is via db-direct internet, where the customer is able to incorporate a second level of user authorisation for enhanced security, and for review purposes as well as account management.
“Additionally, db-direct connect can support acknowledgements in formats that are both system friendly, enabling automation at the customer’s end, and user friendly in terms of easy access to information for users,” he continues.
In addition to supporting a wide range of file formats and protocols, the solution is built on an architecture that has the flexibility and scalability to adapt quickly to new protocols released to the market. For example, also integrated into the new system are SWIFT MACUG, which can be used across payments, cash management, treasury, derivatives, trade services and securities and SWIFT FileAct, which allows secure and reliable transfer of files and is typically used to exchange batches of structured financial messages and large reports.
The new innovation has also allowed Deutsche’s legacy H2H offerings to be consolidated onto a single strategic platform. Previously, global file transfers were development specifically for each region and since the db-direct connect’s inception, numerous clients throughout Asia and in other markets have gone live.
One example cited by Deutsche regionally is the implementation of the H2H solution by Indonesian telecommunication firm Indosat. According to the bank, Indosat has been using the programme since 2005 as part of its electronic invoice presentment and payment (EIPP) and has subsequently witnessed greater efficiency in large volumes of data exchange.
