League table roundup February 20

Equity capital markets power ahead, while debt capital markets grind to a halt.
Equity Capital Markets

The equity capital markets raised $1.1 billion from 14 issues last week, bringing total volume for the year so far to over $11 billion. Goldman Sachs continues to head the league table rankings with $2 billion from seven deals, followed by Nomura and Barclays Capital - two banks, which do not normally feature in the top 10 let alone the top five.

A $440 million convertible for IndiaÆs Ranbaxy Laboratories was the largest issue of the week. Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley and UBS were the bookrunners.

A $450 million Hong Kong IPO for Chinese paper company Nine Dragons will be launched today by bookrunners BNP Paribas Peregine and Merrill Lynch.

Debt Capital Markets

It was a quiet week in the debt capital markets last week with zero issuance. Citigroup sits at the top of the G3 league table rankings with $1.2 billion from four trades while Credit Suisse and UBS round out the top three.

A $300 million deal for Korea's Shinhan Bank is scheduled to price shortly via bookrunners Barclays, BNP Paribas and HSBC.
