ABN AMRO continues banking software upgrades

The Dutch bank has chosen to replace its core banking system across Greater China with technology from Infosys.

ABN AMRO Bank has said it plans to deploy Infosys’ Finacle solution for core banking, consumer internet banking, customer relationship management (CRM) and loan origination in mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The announcement follows an earlier one that ABN AMRO in Singapore will use Finacle for its consumer banking channels.

The Indian software vendor claims that its technology has now become the “preferred enterprise banking platform for the bank’s new growth markets”.  It is also Infosys’ first sale within China for its banking technology products.

Rajiv Agarwal, CFO, ABN AMRO Bank says that as the Greater China market is important to the bank’s growth strategy, choosing the right technology platform was crucial. That Infosys could offer a core banking system with integrated CRM and e-banking capabilities swayed the decision.

Merwin Fernandes, sales and marketing head for the banking business unit at Infosys, says that this first win in Greater China comes as the company has invested in changes to the software to make it a better fit for the Chinese market.
