Salomon Smith Barney research reshuffle

Promotions at Salomon Smith Barney strengthen the bank''s Asia Pacific and Thailand research teams.

Kittinnath (Der) Sumruatruamphol has been promoted to head of Country Research at Salomon Smith Barney in Thailand.

Sumruatruamphol, who joined SSB in 1997 as a research analyst, will be responsible for coordinating the Thai research product and for country strategy research and coverage of the regional cement sector.

Commenting on Sumruatruamphol's new position, Otto Wong, SSB's managing director and head of Asia Pacific Equity Research says: "We are delighted to promote Kittinnath to head of Thai Research. He has a wealth of experience covering stocks in Thailand and has been a key member of our highly-rated Thai team. We look forward to Kittinnath leading the marketing and promotion of our Thai product."

SSB has also announced the promotion of Anand Ramachandran to deputy head of Regional Telecommunications Research.

Ramachandran, who will relocate to Hong Kong from Singapore, will, alongside Rohit Sobti, the head of Regional Telecom Research, be responsible for coordinating the regional telecom research effort.

Ramachandran will continue his sector coverage of Singapore, Malaysia, India, and will play a larger role in Hong Kong and assume coverage of the Taiwan telecom sector.

"Anand's past experience in covering all the telecom markets within Asia Pacific will allow him to play a much larger role in further developing and promoting our regional product," Wong says of Ramachandran's promotion.
