Stanley Zau jumps to Merrill

The US investment bank gains a new head of Pacific Rim local currency trading.

In an internal memo released yesterday (Wednesday) Merrill Lynch announced the appointment of Stanley Zau as head of Pacific Rim local currency trading. From his base in Tokyo, Zau's new responsibilities will cover fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives trading activities in the Asian currencies department.

Upon joining Merrill Lynch, Zau will report to Dilip Thadani, head of Pacific Rim rates and foreign exchange and Juan Del Azar, global head of emerging markets.

Zau will move to Merrill Lynch from Credit Agricole Indosuez where he was employed as head of emerging markets. Prior to that, he spent four years as an hedge fund manager focusing on Asia and holding several senior positions at CSFB. He also has a BS in economics from Wharton.
