Freris joins BNP Paribas as chief economist

Dr Andrew Freris has joined BNP Paribas as chief economist for Asia Pacific, excluding Japan, within the fixed income business line.

Based in Hong Kong, Freris will be advising clients on Asian markets, environment and dynamics and will be a point of reference for forex, derivatives and bond client activities.

Prior to this position, Freris was the managing director of Asia research for Bank of America from 1997, chief regional economist with Salomon Brothers in Hong Kong from 1993 to 1997, and senior economist with GT Management (HK) from 1990. Freris has taught economics at the London Guidhall University and at City University of Hong Kong where he was head of the economics and finance department.
