DBS Private Bank announced yesterday that it is forming an international private banking team to tap the rising demand from international high-net-worth individuals keen to invest in Asia’s growth. The bank has hired veteran private banker Peter Triggs to lead the team. His title will be managing director and head of international and wealth structuring and he will be based in Singapore.
“The strong Asian growth story and the emergence of China and India as economic powerhouses on the world stage have made Asia an extremely attractive investment destination for the international high-net-worth segment," said Tan Su Shan, group head of wealth management at DBS Bank.
Triggs, who has more than 25 years of experience, will lead the new team to accelerate the pace of growth of DBS’s private banking business. He will join the Singapore bank in April and will report to Tan.
Triggs joins from Bank of China (Suisse), where he was most recently deputy CEO and head of international private banking, working in the first international private banking office of a Chinese bank outside Asia. Prior to that, he worked for Citi Private Bank for 19 years, in Jersey, Zurich, Geneva, London and Asia. From 2001 to 2004, he was head of private banking in Singapore and Malaysia.
Other members of the new team include Yann Mocellin, who recently joined from multi-family office Swiss-Asia Financial Services, where he was a managing partner and head of wealth management. Also, James Tan has joined from Credit Suisse where he spent seven years, most recently as a senior vice-president of investment consulting. Two more senior relationship managers will come on board in May.
