Citi offers mobile solution in Asia, expands availability of eBam

CitiDirect BE Mobile updates users with notifications and allows them to authorise payments through their mobile phones.

Citi global transaction services has released its CitiDirect BE Mobile solution to clients in Asia-Pacific. The mobile-based application updates users with notifications and allows them to authorise payments through their mobile phones. The solution was launched in October this year and has now been made available in 24 countries worldwide, including five in Asia-Pacific: Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Citi is planning to roll out the availability of CitiDirect BE Mobile eventually to more than 100 countries.

“In today’s marketplace, clients increasingly need the ability to connect and access real time information wherever they are,” said Tomasz Smilowicz, global head of mobile solutions, global transaction services at Citi. “CitiDirect BE Mobile provides this convenience and further reinforces our commitment to mobile and to delivering innovative solutions that are consistent with new business models.”

CitiDirect BE Mobile leverages the security of Citi’s CitiDirect online banking portal. According to the bank, clients can receive short message service alerts that complement email and fax notifications and authorise payments pending approval in every payment type supported by the online banking platform with the new application.

In addition, Citi announced that the availability of its electronic bank account management (eBam) solution has been extended to 22 countries in Asia-Pacific, North America and Emea (Europe, the Middle East and Africa). The eBam solution leverages digital signatures and workflows which allows clients to manage their bank accounts at Citi electronically. It is currently available in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore in Asia-Pacific.

“Our goal is to provide solutions which are strategically relevant to our clients’ business priorities and operating models,” said Naveed Sultan, global head of treasury and trade solutions at Citi. “This expansion of our eBam offering is an important step in the continued realisation of delivering on that promise.”

Citi’s eBam solution allows its treasury and trade solutions clients to centralise account administration or establish a shared service centre. According to the bank, it offers a secure, convenient and efficient way for maintaining records of all Citi accounts, legal entities and signatories, allowing both the client and the bank access to view the same information.
