HSBC sets June target for full roll out of HSBCnet

The bank says its internet banking platform for cash customers will be available in 17 countries by the end of June.

HSBC plans a full regional roll out of its internet banking platform, HSBCnet, by the end of June, giving cash management customers access to online payment and receivables services.

The bank flicked the switch on the receivables functions of its web offering in August 2003 with a launch in Hong Kong and has since expanded the service to include Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The online service provides local and up-country cheque collections, consolidated regional collections information and auto-reconciliation.

On the payments side, HSBCnet now includes a cheque outsourcing service which the bank launched in Hong Kong and Thailand this year.

The June target will see HSBCnet available in 17 countries across the region giving customers access to balance and transaction reporting, high-value and low-value payables and payment advice for electronic and paper-based payments.
