FinanceAsia held its eighth annual awards dinner in Sydney in early February to honour the winners of the 2010 Annual Achievement Awards for Australia and New Zealand. Over 150 guests dined shoulder-to-shoulder at the harbourkitchen&bar restaurant at the fabulous Park Hyatt hotel, which hugs the shore of Sydney harbour.
In attendance were issuers, bankers and service providers, who received plaques for their winning efforts and gave a short speech at the podium to thank their colleagues and clients. The mood was upbeat despite various winners describing the deal-making market as “challenging”, “stubbornly volatile” and “requiring perseverance”. Some of the issuers attending the dinner included senior executives from Fortescue Metals, Santos, QBE Insurance, QR National and APA Group.
The Credit Suisse/First NZ Capital table picked up a case of wine for winning the trivia quiz, while several other guests received lucky draw prizes of brandy, fine chocolates, dinner vouchers and an invitation to a private wine-tasting event.
