HSBC creates global traditional trade product role

The bank creates the new position of head of global traditional trade product and appoints Vinay Mendonca to fill it.

HSBC trade and supply chain has appointed Vinay Mendonca as its head of global traditional trade product, effective immediately. Based in Hong Kong, Mendonca joins from HSBC India where he was most recently head of product management for HSBC trade and supply chain.

In this newly created global position, Mendonca will be responsible for setting strategic direction for the traditional trade product portfolio. His responsibilities will include driving the design and development of new products and services as well as management of the existing HSBC trade franchise.

“Trade is the foundation on which HSBC was built and continues to be a cornerstone in our operations,” said Rebecca Adriatico, HSBC’s head of global product management, in a statement. “Through the creation of this strategic role, we are able to continue expanding our global operations in order to deliver the best products and services to our clients. Vinay’s appointment solidifies our commitment to the continued investment and development of a range of products and solutions aimed at helping clients navigate the complexities associated with international business in order to realise their full business potential.”

In addition to his previous role, Mendonca held a role in HSBC India’s global payments and cash management team as senior vice-president, product management. He has also held a range of positions at companies including Infosys Technologies, BNP Paribas and Reliance Industries.
