Last week we asked our readers to let us know what they were most thankful for as they sat down for their turkey feasts at Thanksgiving.
Most said they were just happy to get through 2010, which was pitched as our middle-of-the-road option. The other choices were “Having had a great year”, which was for the ECM guys, and “Just having a job”, which was for the equity derivatives guys.
As it turned out, our grumpy readers exactly balanced our happy readers, and those in the middle were just slightly ahead of both. We would probably see a similar distribution if we simply asked people if they were generally happy, sad or somewhere in between, so perhaps job satisfaction is really in the eye of the beholder.
Anyway, we at FinanceAsia are thankful for the time that banks and financial institutions in the region have given to us during the year and, especially, during the past few weeks of awards pitches.
Overall, the votes broke down like this: 29% were grateful for having a job, 42% were glad to make it through the year and 29% were celebrating a great year.
