The debt crisis that is looming over Europe is probably not going to spread to Asia, was the uncertain answer to our web poll last week.

The optimists won the vote, but by a slender margin and with less than half the total votes. Fears that an economic recovery in the US could be derailed by an economic collapse in Greece, or even Spain or Portugal, have pushed down stockmarkets around the world and led some investors to worry about the possibility that an Asian economy, such as South Korea, could be vulnerable, particularly in light of the tensions with its troublesome neighbour to the north.

In total, 46% of respondents to the poll said that the European debt crisis will not spread to Asia, while 44% said it would and 10% were unsure.
