Dechert adds managing partner in Beijing

Henry Wang joins the international law firm's new Beijing office.
International law firm Dechert announced Wednesday that Henry Wang has joined the firm as managing partner of the newly opened Beijing office.

Wang has experience working with global corporations, financial institutions and private investors in connection with corporate matters involving China. In addition, he frequently counsels Chinese companies seeking to establish or expand their global footprint outside of China.

ôWe are very excited that Henry has joined Dechert. His understanding of local Chinese government regulations and practice coupled with his ability to structure transactions that bridge the legal and cultural gaps between the East and the West make Henry a valuable addition to the firm," says Dechert chairman Barton J Winokur.

Prior to returning to private practice in 2006, Wang was the general counsel at Shanghai General Motors, which is the largest joint venture between a Chinese and a US company. Wang orchestrated the legal structure for all of GM's major investments in China.

A US qualified attorney who worked for the Chinese foreign ministry and the United Nations prior to his law career, Wang received an undergraduate degree from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Languages, a masterÆs degree in international relations from the University of Chicago, and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Dechert is an international law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers that was first established in the US in 1875. Its Beijing office represents domestic and international companies, financial institutions, and private investors in a full range of corporate matters and transactions.
