Barclays Wealth hires new Asia strategist

Manpreet Singh Gill joins the Barclays Wealth team in Singapore where he will focus on interpreting market economics and developing investment strategies for private banking clients.
Barclays Wealth said yesterday that it has appointed Manpreet Singh Gill as Asia strategist, effective immediately.

Based in Singapore, Gill will report to Michael Dicks, global head of research and investment strategy. Gill will be responsible for driving research and providing in-depth analysis of regional markets, the bank says. He will also focus on interpreting market economics and developing investment strategies for Barclays Wealth's private banking clients in the region.

Before joining Barclays, Gill had been an economist and strategist with the global markets group at ICICI Bank in India since 2005. There, he was responsible for macroeconomic research for Japan and the Eurozone, and for developing investment strategies for structured products, with a focus on global foreign exchange.

ôThe appointment of Manpreet Singh Gill in Asia will ensure that both local and rest-of-the-world views are delivered to clients and awareness of investment opportunities is heightened,ö says Dicks.

Gill graduated from Insead with a Master of Business Administration and holds a Master of Arts in economics from the Delhi School of Economics.
