Clifford Chance adds a partner in Singapore

The global law firm builds its asset finance team by adding a partner specialising in Asian aviation.
Simon Briscoe will join global law firm Clifford Chance in the fall, strengthening its Asian asset finance group.

Briscoe brings over 17 years' experience in cross-border aviation and project finance, at a time when Asian airlines are in need of legal advice as they look to buy new planes and grow their fleets.

"Aircraft finance activity in Asia is thriving, and our international and regional clients expect us to have a strong and knowledgeable team on the ground in the region," says Huw Jenkins, head of finance in Asia at Clifford Chance, noting that the firm has aviation experts in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Briscoe is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington and a New Zealander by birth. He began his career at Chapman Tripp in Wellington before moving to the UK. He joined Norton Rose in 1987, moving briefly to Denton Hall, first in Singapore and then Hong Kong. He returned to Norton Rose in 1993 initially in Bahrain and, for the last 12 years, in Singapore. He is qualified in New Zealand, England and Wales, and Hong Kong.
