James Fleming and Sam Kendall will be the new heads of UBS's combined equity syndicate and block origination/execution business based in Hong Kong.
Fleming joined UBS in London in 1999 as part of the European and Asian ECM team. In April 2006, he took up his current role as head of Southeast Asian ECM, based in Singapore.
Kendall started at UBS in 1996 in equities. Prior to moving to Hong Kong in April 2006, he ran the Asian sales trading desk in London.
Sturmey could not be reached for comment although market insiders bill the move as a good one for him, as he'll be heading up ECM for Asia-Pacific for ABN AMRO whereas at UBS there are several key players on the ECM team. However, ABN AMRO is, of course, in the process of integrating its business with Royal Bank of Scotland, so ultimately Sturmey will be working for RBS.
