Citi’s global transaction services has appointed managing director Akash Rathke as its regional head of bank services and public sector, based in Hong Kong.

In his new position, Rathke will work on structuring client-driven solutions,
deepening existing bank and public service relationships and exploring strategic alliances with key clients, the bank said in a statement. He will also be responsible for building Citi’s in-country bank services and public sector division in Asia-Pacific, in line with Citi’s global strategy of integrating this segment.

Regionally, he will report to Hong Kong-based Anthony Nappi, managing director and region head, Asia-Pacific, Citi global transaction services.

“Following significant success in the bank and public sector sectors, the time was right to establish a dedicated role in Asia-Pacific to further build on our
momentum,” says Nappi.

Rathke has more than 16 years of experience in Citi. Most recently he was Citi’s Asia-Pacific global payments and financial institutions head in
Hong Kong.

Prior to taking on regional roles in Hong Kong, Rathke held a variety of senior
roles in global transaction services’ India team, including country sales head
and country cash and trade head. Outside of Citi, Akash is a Fellow of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
