Citi global transaction services (GTS) has appointed Shalini Lall as its new head of Asia supply chain. Based in Hong Kong, Lall will be responsible for building Citi’s trade capabilities in supply chain structures for corporate and financial institution clients.

In the new role Lall will work closely with GTS cash product to ensure the maximisation of trade financing cross-sell opportunities and also provide solutions that increase the returns on balance-sheet usage. She will report to Amita Jhangiani, Citi’s Asia-Pacific regional trade head.

Lall’s appointment follows several developments in GTS trade’s commitment to the supply chain demands of clients. In the past 18 months, GTS trade has launched several products that address the complex needs of clients including accounts receivable financing, credit insurance and distribution financing.

Commenting on Lall’s appointment, Jhangiani says: “As trade evolves, traditional financing is being replaced by end-to-end structures which address clients' financial supply chain needs for both receivables and payables. Citi's strength is our ability to provide integrated solutions across trade, cash and electronic platforms, which improve the client's cash conversion cycle in their domestic and cross-border supply chain. Shalini will be a key addition to our team and drive this ever-important part of our business.”

Lall joins Citi from ABN AMRO in London where she was deputy head of global supply chain. Prior to this role, she worked for ABN AMRO in Malaysia and in Citi’s corporate bank in India.
