UBS strengthens its utilities coverage

UBS poaches Oldfield and Wong from Goldman Sachs to increase its research coverage.
UBS has hired two Goldman Sachs research analysts to strengthen its coverage of the utilities sector.

Stephen Oldfield will cover China and Hong Kong water, gas and infrastructure-related stocks as well as UBSÆ regional strategy product including co-ordination of UBSÆ existing coverage in India, Korea and Southeast Asia.

Nicholas Pink, head of equity research for Asia at UBS says: ôStephen OldfieldÆs 10 years of experience as a top ranked sell-side analyst will be invaluable in providing further momentum to our utilities research team.ö

Oldfield worked with Goldman Sachs from 2000-2006, most recently as an executive director, and focused on China, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand stocks. He is also responsible for initiating coverage of the alternative energy sector. He has also worked with Lehman Brothers and as an auditor at KPMG.

Oldfield brings with him Christopher Wong who will cover Hong Kong and China gas and water stocks and provide support for Hong Kong and China electricity stocks and UBSÆ regional product. Wong was a junior analyst at Goldman Sachs, working with Oldfield. He reports to Oldfield at UBS.
