UBS chief executive to multi-task

Brad Orgill is taking on more responsibility for Asia.

Brad Orgill, chief executive of UBS Warburg Hong Kong and country head for China, has had his role expanded to cover other regions.

Orgill has been appointed head of Asia Pacific equities responsible for Asia, Japan, and Australasia. In this role, he will work with Simon Coombe, head of equities in , and Shane Finemore, head of equities in Australasia. His role will be to increase the profile of UBS Warburg research and to develop new products for clients in the region.

"Our equities businesses in Asia Pacific have enjoyed much success in recent years and as a result of Brad's expanded role, we expect further competitive gains to accrue and to consolidate a position as the number one Asia Pacific equities franchise," says Alan Hodson, global head of equities, UBS Warburg.

First joining UBS in 1986, Orgill has steadily moved through the ranks. He began as an analyst in the Australian office, later becoming co-managing director of the equities business there. In 1994, he relocated to UBS in Hong Kong to take the position of Asian research head. Orgill became the head of Asian equities in 1998 and was appointed chief executive of UBS Hong Kong in 1999.
