Julius Baer hires senior relationship managers in Singapore

Julius Baer hires Lawrence Lua and Frances Lee in Singapore.

Julius Baer is carrying on its hiring spree with an announcement last week that it has appointed Lawrence Lua as senior advisor in Singapore with immediate effect. He will report to Wilfried Kofmehl, head of private banking for Southeast Asia, and help to further develop the bank's business in the region.

Lua brings more than 27 years of banking experience to the Swiss private bank. He started his career with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and, prior to Julius Baer, he was managing director (investment) at Merrill Lynch, and country head for Citibank Private Bank Singapore.

Frances Lee has also joined Julius Baer as a relationship manager reporting to Lua. He was a private banker at Merrill Lynch before joining Julius Baer.

"We have a strong focus and commitment to Singapore and the region," said Kofmehl. "We will continue to expand our footprint and build on this important hub of the bank."

These are just the latest in a string of key hires by Julius Baer in the region. In October, Christopher Todd Burgess joined the firm in a newly created role as head of the international desk and external asset manager business in Hong Kong. And, in July, the bank relocated Thomas Meier, its CEO for Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, from Zurich to Singapore.
