BarCap poaches structuring head from UBS

Chak Wong takes on the new role of coordinating Barclays Capital's structuring efforts across the region.
Barclays Capital has hired Chak Wong to take up a new position as head of structuring for Asia-Pacific in its investment banking division. In this role he will lead a team of regional structurers across all asset classes.

He joins from UBS, where he was a managing director and co-head of the structured products group for Asia-Pacific, and was responsible for designing and trading structured products. He has also worked at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, where he started his career as a quant in exotic derivatives.

BarCap says it has created the new position to enhance its risk management solutions in Asia. "We have seen a significant increase in market volatility recently and a lot of risk managers in Asia have taken the opportunity to rebalance their risk portfolios," says Patrick Kwan, head of derivatives and financing solutions for Asia-Pacific. "This has led to an increasing demand for custom-made risk management solutions."

Wong, who will be based in the bank's Hong Kong office, will report to Kwan.
