A spokesman at Morgan Stanley confirmed that Keyes, who is a managing director in the investment banking division in Asia-Pacific, will be leaving the bank. He is expected to join Merrill Lynch after three months of gardening leave.
In his new job, Keyes will likely be working with Sheldon Trainor, head of Asia investment banking at Merrill, who is also an ex-Morgan Stanley employee.
Keyes joined Morgan Stanley in 1997 and, as one of its most senior execution bankers, has been involved in many of the bankÆs largest and most complicated deals, including the initial public offering of China Construction Bank û the first of ChinaÆs big four banks to go public.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley he headed up the Asia advisory group at SBC Warburg.
