RBS poaches three from Schroders

Among the hires is Stanley Ng, who joins the British bank as Asia-Pacific head of structured investor product development and marketing.
The Royal Bank of Scotland has created three new positions within its structured investor product development and marketing team in Asia-Pacific as part of its collective strategy to expand in the region.

Stanley Ng, who was previously head of structured investments in Asia-Pacific at Schroders Investment Management, has been hired to head the team, while Paul Chan and Sharon Tan join as senior director and associate, respectively. Chan and Tan also previously worked at Schroders.

At Schroders, Ng was responsible for developing and marketing structured investment products across asset classes to retail and institutional investors in the Asia region. He was particularly focused on selling structured retail funds into Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, and Japan. He will assume similar responsibilities at RBS and bring structured products, such as structured funds and notes, public offerings and private placements, to retail clients and investors across the Asia-Pacific region.

Internally his team will also work closely with RBSÆ debt markets and treasury investor product group to develop and market those products for distribution.

Based in Singapore, Ng will report jointly to Water Cheung, RBSÆ head of treasury and emerging markets for Asia-Pacific, and to Robert Begbie, global head of structured investor products in London

ôThis is a significant step forward in our structured investor product capability in Asia. We view the Asian markets as the most significant opportunity for our business and (are) at the forefront of establishing RBS as a leading provider of structured investor products globally,ö says Begbie, in a written statement.
