Crédit Agricole nabs debt veteran from ANZ

After a decade away from the French bank, Dominique Blanchard returns to take up a regional leadership role. He'll be charged with drumming up new business in Asia.

Dominique Blanchard, a 25-year investment banking veteran, is returning to Crédit Agricole after working for ANZ and Daiwa Sumitomo over the past decade, the French company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Based in Hong Kong, Blanchard will join the French bank as regional head of its global markets division for Asia Pacific. The unit handles all sales and trading activities on the primary and secondary markets for corporate and institutional investors, as well as issuers.

Blanchard spent five years with ANZ in Hong Kong, where he was global head of sales and debt capital markets for the Australian lender. Before his stint at ANZ, he worked for Japan's Daiwa Sumitomo from 2008 and 2013, working for its London and Tokyo offices.

Prior to that, he spent over 15 years with the Crédit Agricole, in which his last position was deputy head of the fixed-income division.

He reports globally to Gene Kim, Crédit Agricole’s head of international for the global markets division, and locally to Michel Roy, senior regional officer for Asia Pacific. He will be a member of the bank’s Asia-Pacific management committee.

“Dominique will play a key role in deepening and extending our client franchise in Asia-Pacific, leading our global market division teams to address the needs of our financial institutions and corporates clients with the most efficient solutions” Roy said in a statement announcing the deal.

“We are delighted to welcome back Dominique to Crédit Agricole CIB. With his extensive experience in capital markets he will help us further strengthen our franchise in Asia,” Kim added.
