Citi shifts financials banker Valentin Garger to Asia

Citi moves Valentin Garger to Hong Kong to head the corporate banking financial institutions team across the Asia Pacific region excluding Japan.
Garger is currently a managing director in Citi’s European financial institutions group.

Citi has named Valentin Garger as head of its financial institutions advisory team within its corporate banking division. His role spans the Asia Pacific region excluding Japan.
 
Garger is currently a managing director in Citi’s European financial institutions group (FIG) with more than 20 years of experience covering financial institutions in Germany, Belgium and Austria.
 
For the past 10 years, Valentin has led the team covering German financial institutions in corporate banking. He has helped advise some of Germany’s largest financial institutions including Allianz, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank and Munich Re.
 
Garger will be based in Hong Kong and report to Will McLane. McLane moved across from Morgan Stanley last year to lead Citi’s Asean Corporate and Investment Banking business as well as lead its Financial Institutions Group across the Asia Pacific region. 
  
Ashish Bajaj has moved from FIG Asia Pacific to become head of Citi Commercial Bank Asia Pacific. Bajaj has led Citi’s FIG Corporate Banking team in the region since January 2010.
