George Lin has joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as head of Asia consumer, retail and healthcare investment banking, based in Hong Kong.
He will be responsible for senior client coverage and will work closely with the bank’s global sector teams, according to an email sent to staff yesterday from Jayanti Bajpai and Jiro Seguchi, co-heads of Asia-Pacific global corporate and investment banking; Joe Kohls, global head of healthcare; and David Russell, global head of consumer and retail.
Lin left Credit Suisse in late February. He had been head of Asia-Pacific consumer, retail and healthcare since 2007. Before that, he worked in the San Francisco and Los Angeles offices of Credit Suisse, having joined the bank through its acquisition of Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette in 2000. He started his career as an associate at O’Melveny & Myers, a West coast law firm.
It was rumoured at the time of his departure that he would be moving to BoA Merrill, joining several others from the Swiss bank recently.
Just last week, the US bank hired SeungGu Park, head of Credit Suisse’s securities branch in Seoul, to head its Korea business. It also hired Olivier Thiriet, Asia-Pacific head of cash equities at Credit Suisse, in February.
